This will be a sort of archive of the old menus from previous weeks.  I’m organizing it by years for convenience.


This week pork loin is buy-one-get-one-free so I am.  Also, I’m using up some of my tilapia and chicken from previously.

Sausages (bratwurst, Italian links) are on special sale for four days.  Certain Texas beef is 25% off, too, so those are my big things.  Also, I’m told to eat fish at least once/week by my doctor,  so we’ll have something from the fish counter.

Hams of many types are on sale, but I prefer the old-fashioned, bone-in, shank portion ham.  Frozen fish fillets in bags (individually wrapped) are buy-one-get-one-free so fish is happenin’ too.  And post-Patrick corned beef sales are on.

Roast beef and pork chops are on sale, but I’m passing on the chops.  Oh, and boneless chicken, which I’m stocking up on and making a freezer recipe, the Sweet Orange-Ginger Chicken which we’ll have this week and also put away for the future.

During Lent, some sort of fish or seafood is always on sale.  So I’m doing the Easy For You Seafood from Kroger with some sort of Asian or plain flavor and an Asian slaw  Also chicken is on sale so I’m getting some of that.  Mostly, though, I’m gearing toward quick or crock because of my new job.

Valentine’s Day is also Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent for the Catholics among us. This means sale prices on fish and seafood. However, also on sale this week are beef roasts and pork loins. And chicken pieces.

Sausages are on sale (Italian and bratwurst) and so I’m buying. Also, a heads up. The week after this one, I’ll be out of town mostly, so there will be a gap as other people will be responsible for most of the meals. That means I’m not posting anything here.

Chicken pieces are on sale so smothered chicken is a winner.  Also some more comfort food. Ratatouille is a vegetable stew, so it’s really more hearty than its name suggests.

Beef roasts and various kinds of chicken are on sale at my store.  So I’m cutting up a roast into stew meat and also hoping to score some cheap brisket.  If not, I’ll use another roast in the borscht.  Lots of stew/soup-type things as we’re in the mood for comfort food.
