During Lent, some sort of fish or seafood is always on sale. So I’m doing the Easy For You Seafood from Kroger with some sort of Asian or plain flavor and an Asian slaw Also chicken is on sale so I’m getting some of that. Mostly, though, I’m gearing toward quick or crock because of my new job.

Valentine’s Day is also Ash Wednesday and the beginning of Lent for the Catholics among us. This means sale prices on fish and seafood. However, also on sale this week are beef roasts and pork loins. And chicken pieces.

Chicken pieces are on sale so smothered chicken is a winner. Also some more comfort food. Ratatouille is a vegetable stew, so it’s really more hearty than its name suggests.

Beef roasts and various kinds of chicken are on sale at my store. So I’m cutting up a roast into stew meat and also hoping to score some cheap brisket. If not, I’ll use another roast in the borscht. Lots of stew/soup-type things as we’re in the mood for comfort food.
