This is my favorite pot-luck dish. If I’m taking the whole family, I take several loaves because my son eats like a teen-aged boy (because he is). When I do, I buy a variety six-pack of bottles and make six different kinds and label the foil pans with the kinds of beer they’re made with so people can try different flavors.
When I make it for us at home, I usually have either Shiner Bock or Shiner Black on hand and it’s whatever I have more of that goes in.

Quick Beer Bread
Ingredients
- 3 c self-rising flour
- 1/3 c sugar
- 1 bottle beer
- 1/4 c (1/2 stick) butter
Method
- Heat oven to 350.
- Grease loaf pan.
- Mix flour, sugar, and beer quickly and pour into pan.
- Immediately bake 45 minutes.
- Melt butter and pour over bread.
- Bake 15 minutes longer.
